Anglican Home Fellowship in Clark County & Northwest Springfield, Ohio
Christianity is not something we reinvent with every generation. We receive the faith Jesus handed down to us through Scripture, the Apostles, the Creeds, and the worship of the historic Church.
We are biblical, we are reformed, and we are catholic. We are part of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ and ordered by His apostles. Our particular heritage runs from Jesus and the Apostles, through the early Celtic Church in Britannia, through the English Reformation's recovery of the Gospel and the Scriptures, into the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States, and — when that body's biblical faithfulness faltered — into the Reformed Episcopal Church, a founding jurisdiction of the Anglican Church in North America.
The twentieth century saw many churches drift from the plain teaching of Holy Scripture. The Reformed Episcopal Church and then the ACNA were established, in part, to hold that line — contending for the historic Christian faith, the primacy and authority of God's Word, and the right administration of Word and Sacrament.
In the early 1600's, Bishop Lancelot Andrewes summarized the reformed catholic faith of Anglicanism as:
"One Canon of Scripture, two Testaments, three Creeds, four General Councils, five centuries, and the series of the Fathers in that period—the centuries, that is, before Constantine, and two after—determine the boundary of our faith."
What Bishop Andrewes meant was Holy Scripture is supreme, both in the Old and New Testaments and the historic Creeds of the Church faithfully summarize what's most important about Holy Scripture. The early Ecumenical Councils define what is orthodox in doctrine, and the consensus of the ancient Church serves as the primary guide for interpreting Scripture today.
That is the faith we intend to nurture here. Our aim is to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and form believers in holiness, service, and good works — so that Clark County sees, in a living community, the redemptive power of God at work.
Right now, we are a small group of people in prayer and discernment; a people asking God to raise up a faithful Anglican witness in Clark County, Ohio. We are seeking Christians who long for a biblically faithful, evangelical, and orthodox witness in our area: a people formed by Common Prayer, fed by the faithful reading of Scripture and the Holy Table, and led by the Spirit into the structure and faith of the ancient Church.
We are provisionally meeting weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00pm in the Westridge Community northwest of Springfield, Ohio. This is the ground-floor moment (thus, a google site for beginning). If God is stirring in you a burden for Clark county, we'd count it an honor to pray alongside you. If you desire to join our small group and pray with us, click the button below.
